The Ultimate Fighter 11 Week 2: Kyle Noke def. Clay McKinney

Tonight for the second episode of TUF 11 we will see how the teams get formed and get it on with our first elimination fight of the season. The first episode had numerous exciting, back and forth bouts so there is plenty of reason to get pumped up for The Ultimate Fighter 11.

This week kicks off with a listing of injuries from the opening matches. Some broken teeth, torn shoulders and away we go to team selections. Tito Ortiz is going to get first selections and chooses Nick Ring. It has to be a nice feeling to have an ex-champ of the octagon choose you first of all of the fighters many of which had excellent showings.

The Ultimate Fighter Season 11 Begins

Things are a bit different this year and the theme is second shots. Dana kicks things off in traditional style by giving his motivational speech. It is the same basic speech of giving it your all and not being the guy that regrets forever the chance he blew. This year seven guys will make it to the quarter finals and two guys with previous losses will be brought back for a second shot and fight it out for the eighth spot. We are definitely ready for another season of The Ultimate Fighter.

The Ultimate Fighter 11: Middleweights Debut Announced

The next season of the entertaining and influential MMA reality show, The Ultimate Fighter, will make it’s debut on Spike TV on March 31, 2010. Initially being called “The Ultimate Fighter 11: Middleweights”, the season will begin production filming in January 2010, is rumored to feature only Middleweight fighters (185 lbs), and will be coached by future UFC Hall of Famers Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz. The tentative plan, as with most “TUF” seasons, is to have the coaches headline a Pay-Per-View event following the season’s The Ultimate Fighter Finale event. Liddell and Ortiz have fought twice previously with Liddell earning a third round TKO win at UFC 66 (Dec 30, 2006) and second round KO win at UFC 47 (Apr 4, 2004).

Roy Nelson is “The Ultimate Fighter”

Roy Nelson is “The Ultimate Fighter”

Roy Nelson, or Roy “Cheeseburger” Nelson as I have referred to him throughout this 10th season of The Ultimate Fighter, now has 100 Gs in his pocket and the last laugh. Overcoming the impressive newcomer, Brendan Schaub, Roy accomplished exactly what he set out to do – win, nothing less and certainly nothing more, just win.

Getting much critique from Dana White throughout the televised episodes and even within after fight interviews found on UFC.com, much was expressed on Roy’s “less than showcasing” victories. Roy’s replies were often as simple as stating that he did what he had to do to win and that should be enough.

TUF 10 Finale: Brendan Schaub vs. Roy Nelson

The last episode of the tenth season of The Ultimate Fighter consists of four fights that will ultimately lead to the finale matchup and a chance at a $100,000 contract fighting for the UFC.

Well it doesn’t take long to cut to the chase of what the entire season has been boiling up to. Dana White actually pulls Kimbo Slice aside and asks if he wants to fight. Kimbo, considering his knee injury and that he would be fighting James McSweeney, a strong kickboxer, surprises Dana and the millions watching in turning down the chance to fight.

One thing we know is that Kimbo already has a spot to fight in the December 5th fightcard being televised on Spike TV.

TUF10: Brendan Schaub def. Jon Madsen

Finalizing the most watched season of The Ultimate Fighter reality series, the Quarter Finals continue and we all await to see if the “YouTube fighter”, Kimbo Slice is given a lifeline to fight again. When most other reality shows are being replayed on TBS, The Ultimate Fighter is getting stronger with its tenth successful season. Initially the talk was surrounding Kimbo, but I think we all know the real attribution has to given to dedicated fans and aspiring fighters growing a sport that will far surpass the modern day boxing and cover the globe with entertaining events.

TUF10: Roy Nelson def. Justin Wren

Well the Quarter Finals are finally here and this season’s drama continues. This week’s fight is between Roy Nelson and the impressive Justin Wren. Team Rashad actually has seven fighters of the eight fighting in the TUF 10 Quarter Finals. Rashad expresses his concern in showing any unfair advantage in having to train fighters to fight each other. So the solution Evans comes up with is train hard, but not heavily coach anyone. I guess he is trying to show some empathy to Rampage’s not-so-expert coaching of his team to even up his lone chance for victory.

TUF10: Marcus Jones def. Michael Wessel

Well there is only one left and it is the biggest, but cardio deficient, Marcus. The ex-NFL player will be the last of Rampage’s team members to attempt a victory. Rampage, in the year he is distracted with outside opportunities, could be the first coach to go absolutely winless. The open of the episode shows Rampage Jackson ripping apart a door to the point where Dana White makes a funny and states that there is no future in the UFC being a door.

Quinton gets a bit more serious in trying to pull out a last fight win out of Marcus. All season, no one has expected Marcus to win as he has shown to be injury prone as well as weak in his cardio. However, with his towering frame, the Rampage team knows they have hope if any of his punches comes down and connect.

TUF 10: Matt Mitrione def. Scott Junk

Moving right along in this season of The Ultimate Fighter with only four fighters awaiting their fighting chance to be in the finale of TUF 10 Heavyweights. The week’s episode starts as the rest in showing the constant bickering between Rampage Jackson and Rashad Evans. At this point it is hard to watch in knowing that Rampage’s retirement will likely mean no fight between the two.

Scott Junk will take on the ex-NFL Matt Mitrione leaving Big Marcus Jones and Mike Wessel to fight next week. Everyone watching has been waiting for Matt to get in the octagon so he can put up or shut up. I would bet on the latter. Matt may be a bit crazy right now, but Scott Junk just might be able to focus his experience and knock a few more screws loose. Scott Junk seems to come to the ring with more than MMA experience, he comes with heart. Being the great white hope for Team Rampage, Junk would actually be the first win for the team this season. I gotta get a beer and some pretzels for this one.
