Rafael Cavalcante is a Brazilian mixed martial artist currently competing in the Light Heavyweight division. He trains with Anderson Silva and Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira as part of the Black House camp. He currently competes in Strikeforce, where he is the former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion. He is known for his aggressive Muay Thai style and explosive knockout power, with all of his first eleven wins finished by stoppage due to strikes. His nickname “Feijão” means “bean” in Portuguese.[1]

Mixed martial arts career
Rafael Cavalcante has fought in both the light heavyweight and heavyweight classes. From 2009 onward, he has focused solely on a career at light heavyweight.
Strikeforce
On June six, 2009 Cavalcante tasted his first decisive defeat in a bout against Mike Kyle at Strikeforce: Lawler vs. Shields in which Cavalcante was knocked out by Kyle.[2]
On May fifteenth, 2010 Cavalcante knocked out Antwain Britt at Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery to become the number one contender for the Strikeforce Light Heavyweight championship.
Rafael Cavalcante fought against the heavily touted “King Mo” Muhammed Lawal in Houston, Texas for the Strikeforce Light Heavyweight championship, and defeated Lawal by TKO due to elbows from the clinch at 1:14 of round 3 to become the new Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion.[3]
Cavalcante lost his title to former PRIDE World Middleweight Champion, former PRIDE World Welterweight Champion, 2005 PRIDE Welterweight Grand Prix Champion, UFC 17 Middleweight Tournament Winner, and 2009 Knockout of the Year winner Dan Henderson via third round TKO, on March 5, 2011.[4][5]
Cavalcante faced Yoel Romero Palacio on September 10, 2011 at Strikeforce World Grand Prix: Barnett vs. Kharitonov.[6] He won the fight via KO in the second round.
Feijao fought a revenge match against american fighter Mike Kyle on 19th May 2012. He avenged his previous defeat by rocking the american fighter with a knee and then choked him out with a guillotine after 33 seconds in the first round.
