Shane Christopher Primm (born July 30, 1984) is an American mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter. He was a cast member of Spike‘s The Ultimate Fighter: Team Nogueira vs. Team Mir.

Biography

Primm was born in Germany on a U.S. Army base. At an early age Primm moved to Fort Knox, Kentucky and then eventually settled in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Primm was an athletic high school student, where he stood out as a baseball player. Primm continued his education at Middle Tennessee State University, but eventually dropped out.[1]

Primm training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for three years, then moved to Tampa, Florida to improve his skills under Rob Kahn at the Gracie Tampa Gym.[2]

The Ultimate Fighter

Primm came onto the show with little experience, holding only a 1-0 record, but won his fight against Sean O’Connell via rear naked choke in the first round. Primm was picked to be a part of Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira‘s team. Primm suggested a matchup with Eliot Marshall, and Nogueira granted him the fight. Marshall defeated Primm with a rear naked choke in the first round.

Ultimate Fighting Championship

Shane Primm made his official UFC debut on the finale show against Krzysztof Soszynski. Primm lost via kimura lock in the second round. Though on the preliminary card, the bout was televised. After the loss, Primm was released from his contract.[3]

Post UFC

Primm fought in the main event against Mike Dolce on the Rock and Havoc card for Music City MMA. The fight took place in Nashville, Tennessee on July 18, 2009.[4] Primm won after Dolce tapped out due to punches in the closing seconds of round one.[5]

Primm fought Arriel Gandulla on November 22 for Art of Fighting winning via a triangle choke in the closing seconds of the first round and was set to fight on December 12 for Xtreme Fighting Championships but the event was canceled.[6][7][8]

He lost a decision over UFC vet, Luigi Fioravanti in Buffalo, New York held at the event Mayhem in the Mist on January 23.[9] Looking to bounce back from the loss to Fioravanti, Primm took a fight against Gerardo Julio Gallegos but lost via vicious knockout early in the first round.

Shane submitted Benjamin Jones and earned himself a spot on an M-1 Global card.

M-1 Global

Shane fought on one of the M-1 Selection 2010 cards, winning his fight via submission. The win earned him a spot in the next round of the US M-1 Tournament.
