Rosi Sexton Returns to the Cage

To update you on the possible Bellator 115 pound tournament, Fightergirls was able to talk to Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney. He said that the tournament is something they are working hard on, but cannot confirm as of yet. He also stated the tournament will not happen unless #1 ranked 115 pounder Megumi Fujii was involved. Fujii’s manager, MMA fighter Josh Barnett, was at the Chicago fights this past week, so negotiations could be underway.

Kim Couture, who was also at the event, announced she will have her own TV show. No mention on when and where the show will be or the format. Shana Olsen is set to face #8 ranked 145 ponder Yoko Takahashi at the CFX: Mayhem in Minneapolis and says with a win, she would be ready to fight Strikeforce 145 pound champion Cyborg Santos in June if offered.

In results this past week:

Anna Barone defeated Jenn Ricker via KO at 0:55 of Round 2 at the Wreck MMA in Canada. In an upset, newly signed Bellator fighter Elena “Babydoll” Reid suffered a third round TKO loss to upcomer Catia “Cat Woman” Victoria at the Playboy Fight Night in North Dakota and Felice Herrig won a close split decision against Jessica Rakoczy at Bellator in Chicago this past week.

#1 ranked 125 pounder Rosi Sexton will return to the cage at Cage Warriors Fighting Championship 37: “Right To Fight” on May 22 in her hometown of Birmingham, England. Sexton hasn’t fought there in four years, and will be defending her CWFC Women’s 125-Pound Championship against Angela Magana. Also on the card, Sexton protégé Sarah Moras out of Canada will face the UK’s Helena Martin.

#9 ranked 135 pounder Miesha Tate this week announced she will be making her pro boxing debut this June. Tate said she felt it was time to expand her training and will only compete in one or two matches.

Tate is a world class grappler, and the concentration of striking training should help round out her game. She has not said exactly when or where the fight will take place, but will announce it when the information becomes available.

In fights this week:

  • Karina Hallinan faces Heather Clark at VFC 31: For The Throne in Council Bluffs, IA
  • Maria Hougaard faces Milana Dudiev, ProFC: Union Nation Cup in Moscow, Russia
