Several important announcements this week in regards to matches involving ranked women’s fighters coming up in the next few weeks.

Freestyle Cage Fighting has released their opening round matches for their historic 135 pound women’s tournament Jan. 30 in Tulsa.

AJ Jenkins (16-2) who is on a is on a six match win streak will be facing Sarah Schnieder (4-2), who is trying to get back on the winning track since her loss to #1 ranked Sarah Kaufman.

Liz Carraro (5-5) and Jan Finney (6-7) are both looking to make it their third win in a row.

#7 ranked Jennifer Tate (5-1) will face Kaitlin Young who will be trying to get back on the winning track.

And #4 ranked Shayna Baszler, after losing to #1 ranked 135 pounder Sarah Kaufman and #1 ranked 145 pound champion Cyborg Santos, is hoping to get a win over Japanese journeywoman fighter Megumi Yabushita (18-15).

#3 ranked 145 pounder Erin Toughill will be featured in the main event.

Freestlye Cage Fighting is possibly inking a deal with HDNet to have the tournament televised.

Also on Jan. 30, #3 ranked 135 pounder Roxanne Modafferi (13-5) will be face Molly Helsel (8-8-1) at the King of the Cage event in Okinawa. Modafferi will be hoping to get back on the winning track after losing to #2 ranked 145 pounder Marloes Coenen (17-3) – who coincidentally will be facing 145 pound Strikeforce champion Cyborg Santos (8-1) that evening in Miami.

And finally, #10 ranked 135 pounder Miesha Tate (7-2) will be putting her Freestyle Cage Fighting title on the line verses tough grappler Valerie Coolbaugh (3-3) at the Freestlye Cage Fighting event this weekend in Tulsa, OK. Coolbaugh is looking to avenge a loss to Tate in the amateur ranks, while Tate, coming off a great showing at the Fila World Grappling championships and a KO win over Sarah Oriza in October, is hoping to continue her winning ways.
