MMA Quick Shots – Thur Dec 3 2009

* Brendan Schaub will meet Roy Nelson in this Saturday’s The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale. In last evening’s final episode on Spike TV, Schaub KO’ed Marcus Jones while Roy Nelson TKO’ed James McSweeney to set up their showdown for the “six figure contract” at the finale.

* Now that the TUF10 match up between Schaub and Nelson is all set, the UFC announced three more fights to round out the card. In a bit of a grudge match, Marcus Jones will fight Matt Mitrione, recently ordered-to-deploy soldier Darrill Schnoover will take on James McSweeney, while Justin Wren and Jon Madsen will square off.

*YouTube sensation Kimbo Slice will be fighting slugger Houston Alexander at the aforementioned TUF 10 Finale at the special catch weight of 215 lbs. Slice relayed that the weight cut has been brutal and that he’s “anxious” and “just doesn’t feel the same”.

* A recent signee of the UFC, 42 year old Renzo Gracie is claiming that his contract is for six fights and that he’s insisting his fight in the organization be against Matt Hughes at an unidentified upcoming event. Hughes stated on his website that he’ll next be fighting in April.

* Strikeforce picked up two nice free agents in signing former EliteXC lightweight champ KJ Noons (6-1) and K-1 veteran Melvin Manhoef (23-6-1) to contracts.

* Rumor Mill: Coming off impressive wins over Frank Trigg and Anthony Johnson, Josh Koscheck might get his rematch with Paulo Thiago at UFC 109 slated for Feb 6 in Vegas.

* Rumor Mill: With Anderson Silva being mysteriously sidelined for the foreseeable future due to injury, Nate Marquardt might be stepping into his shoes to take on Vitor Belfort in February at UFC 109 or UFC 110. The fight would certainly determine the #1 contender to Silva and set up a showdown with the Spider upon his return.

* Keith Jardine and Ryan Bader have announced via their Twitter pages that they’ll fight each other at UFC 110 in Australia.

* After his loss to Kendall Grove at UFC 106 via triangle choke, 3 time NCAA champion wrestler Jake Rosholt was cut by the UFC.
