The below reflects the official salaries, as well as bonuses paid by the UFC for Fight of the Night, KO of the Night, and Submission of the Night, for last Saturday’s The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale event as reported to the Nevada State Athletic Commission. The salaries reflect the gross amount paid to fighters before taxes, insurance, and licenses, and do not reflect potential additional income that fighters commonly derive through sponsorships or unreported “locker room” bonuses. Of particular note is that Matt Hamill received a $23,000 win bonus in a fight that he was dominated in, yet won by disqualification.

Kimbo Slice: I Would Have Booed Too

“I would have booed, too… He rode the ring a lot. It was probably his game plan, maybe a little fear, too. But I think it was more his game plan than anything else. I wanted to bang. The crowd is there to be entertained, and we’re entertainers.”

- Kimbo Slice reflecting on his victory via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27) over Houston Alexander during Saturday’s The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale. The anticipated catch weight slugfest turned out to be a dud in most observers’ eyes; the fight was marred by a complete hesitation to engage, particularly on Alexander’s behalf. Although viewers suffered, Vegas and offshore sportsbooks certainly loved the result. Bettors had pushed the line on Alexander up to as high -340 after published reports of Slice’s pre-fight weight cut difficulties.

Kimbo Slice: Not Lovin’ It

“I’m going to be straight-up honest with you, man, the last time I was at this weight was in middle school… (The weight cut’s) not good. Not good. (I’m) moody. You just don’t feel the same, you know what I’m saying? It’s mental, but it’s not a good feeling, to be honest with you. I’m a little anxious.”

- Kimbo Slice in recent comments to Loretta Hunt of Sherdog relaying how difficult his weight cut has been for his 215 lbs catch weight fight with Houston Alexander at this weekend’s The Ultimate Fighter 10: Heavyweights finale. Slice usually fights at a shredded 235 lbs, so any cut – let alone 20 lbs – could have a significant impact on his performance. Coupled with Slice’s bum knee (and the difficult cut being the first of his career) and Alexander bettors have to like what they’re hearing. The last episode of the tenth season of The Ultimate Fighter consists of four fights that will ultimately lead to the finale matchup and a chance at a $100,000 contract fighting for the UFC.

Well it doesn’t take long to cut to the chase of what the entire season has been boiling up to. Dana White actually pulls Kimbo Slice aside and asks if he wants to fight. Kimbo, considering his knee injury and that he would be fighting James McSweeney, a strong kickboxer, surprises Dana and the millions watching in turning down the chance to fight.

One thing we know is that Kimbo already has a spot to fight in the December 5th fightcard being televised on Spike TV.

Finalizing the most watched season of The Ultimate Fighter reality series, the Quarter Finals continue and we all await to see if the “YouTube fighter”, Kimbo Slice is given a lifeline to fight again. When most other reality shows are being replayed on TBS, The Ultimate Fighter is getting stronger with its tenth successful season. Initially the talk was surrounding Kimbo, but I think we all know the real attribution has to given to dedicated fans and aspiring fighters growing a sport that will far surpass the modern day boxing and cover the globe with entertaining events.
